University College Boat Club
Welcome to the University College Boat Club, Oxford.
We pride ourselves on being an active, friendly and inclusive rowing community. UCBC is the largest society in University College, with nearly 100 active members each year. We are the oldest society in University College, Oxford, having been founded in 1827. We offer both competitive and casual rowing and coxing opportunities to our members. The UCBC first and second boats are acclaimed both in Oxford and nationally. The Men's and Women's First VIIIs are currently 9th and 3rd (respectively) in Summer Eights, and they are 5th and 1st (respectively) in Torpids. They also compete in several national events each year. With that said, most members of UCBC have never rowed before coming to Univ, and learn to row with us. Have a look at our novice rowing section or get in touch with the captains, if you are interested in learning to row. Experienced rowers are also a regular at UCBC. We have had Olympians, world champions and Blues rowers and coxswains train and race with us in the past.

UCBC is competitive both locally and nationally. Whether you’re an experienced rower, or a novice aspiring to be in a first VIII, everyone has the opportunity to trial for our top boats.

Coxing
Coxes are the lifeblood of UCBC. Coxing is a great way to be a part of a crew, and hone your quick decision making skills. We’re always keen for new coxes, so why not give it a go?
